If you are a family in our community struggling to put food on the table, please know one thing above all else: You are not alone, and help is available.
Smart Start/licc meetings
Local Interagency Coordinating Councils (LICCs) are community-based advisory groups made up of local service providers and parents working together to make sure that all families know about early intervention services.

Caregiver connections
Family Support Network Caregiver Connections is a support group for caregivers raising a child with special needs which can be physical, behavioral, or medical as well as foster, adoptive or kinship families.
This month, we are asking for input for 2026 meetings.
Please take a few minutes to complete this short survey to help provide relevant and timely information to the group meetings.
Attendees can join in person or virtually.

workshops
Triple P Stepping Stones Seminar Series
10 am to 12 pm | In-person or Virtually
Children’s Developmental Services Agency, 87 Bonnie Lane, Sylva
Seminar 2—02/28/26-- Helping Your Child Reach Their Potential. Build on the first seminar and show ways to use the principles to promote the child’s development by teaching the child new skills and behaviors.
Seminar 3—03/28/26-- Changing Problem Behavior into Positive Behavior. Parents are introduced to six steps to help manage problem behavior and help the child learn alternative and more adaptive behaviors to replace the problem behavior.
RSVP is required three days prior to the seminar with name(s) of attendee(s), which seminar(s) attending, and if attending in-person or virtual. A minimum of three attendees is needed. Link will be sent the Friday before the seminar.

Tax Clinics and Resource Information
Pisgah Legal and Family Support NetworkTM of Region A are collaborating to host tax clinics and offer information on resources and services.
Free tax filing for those earning under $67,000!
Simple tax returns will be completed and filed on the spot.
Assistance in finding resources and services will be available.
Please sign up soon. We need at least five appointments to be scheduled ahead of time in order to hold this clinic.

Dental Training for Caregivers
Family Support Network of Region A is collaborating with NC Office of Disability and Health to bring you the Dental Home Partnership Strategies for Success training.
These modules provide training for parents and caregivers of children and youth with special health care needs.
The training is offered in three modules and is presented by parents of children with special health care needs and oral health professionals.
Each module is approximately one hour long. Free virtual training.
February 12, 2026 -- Module 1: Finding the Right Dental Home for My Child
Discuss how oral health is part of overall health
Introduce the Dental Home Checklist
Share strategies for finding a dental home
February 19, 2026 -- Module 2: Oral Health at Home: Maximizing Dental Health
Review the importance of oral health care at home
Introduce tools and techniques for successful oral care at home
Share adaptations and strategies to make brushing easier
February 26, 2026 -- Module 3: Partnering with Dental Providers: Creating a Positive Environment for All
Discuss how best to prepare for the dental visit
Explore ways to encourage positive communication with the dental provider
Review possible accommodations for different situations or disabilities
All the modules start at 6:30 pm and last approximately one hour. Attend as many of the modules as you like. RSVP is required 3 days prior to the module date. The link will be sent the morning of the module date. RSVP to Jody at jmiller@rapc.org
