Tackling the Cliff Effect with The Circles Way
Dec 11 | 6:00 PM | Virtual or Sylva
Dec 13 | 9:00 AM | Virtual or Murphy
Are you, or is someone you know, facing the dilemma where a pay raise actually hurts more than it helps? This is the Cliff Effect—the sudden loss of vital government benefits (food, housing, childcare, healthcare) when income crosses an eligibility threshold, leaving a working family worse off than before.
The Family Support Network of Region A invites you to this free workshop where we will not only talk about this frustrating reality but also provide solutions.
The Circles Way
Learn how The Circles Way is helping families successfully navigate the path to self-sufficiency. This proven model provides the education, community support, and mentorship needed to overcome the Cliff Effect and achieve lasting financial stability.
This workshop will be primarily virtual, but you can also join the local in-person viewing. (The presenter will join all attendees virtually.)
Registration
RSVP Deadline: Three days prior to the training.
Registration: To secure your spot, email Jody L. Miller at jmiller@rapc.org. Please specify the names of attendees and whether you plan to attend virtually or in-person.
A link for virtual attendees will be sent out the morning of the workshop.

Supporting Individuals with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders: Strategies for Service Providers
Dec 08 | 6:00 PM | Murphy
Did you know that in the United States, 1 in 7 pregnancies are exposed to alcohol?
Prenatal alcohol exposure can result in fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD), a brain-based disability that has a wide range of effects that last a lifetime. Current research estimates that as many as 1 in 20 children in North Carolina have FASD.
Unfortunately, this disorder is often not diagnosed, impacting how those with FASD live, learn, and succeed.
Register for this session to hear about fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) and how Proof Alliance NC helps providers with prevention strategies in a variety of settings.
Presentation will be delivered as hybrid event; in-person and virtually.
