If you are a family in our community struggling to put food on the table, please know one thing above all else: You are not alone, and help is available.
Smart Start/licc meetings
Local Interagency Coordinating Councils (LICCs) are community-based advisory groups made up of local service providers and parents working together to make sure that all families know about early intervention services.

Family Support Network Caregiver Connections is a support group for caregivers raising a child with special needs which can be physical, behavioral, or medical as well as foster, adoptive or kinship families.
It is a safe place to come and get information about resources and services, learn from other caregivers, as well as socialize with other caregivers.
Bring your questions or concerns. Learn about resources or services to help. And get information on topics of interest.
Attendees can join in person.
A virtual option is available for the Jackson and Haywood County Caregiver Connections.
Link to join virtually will be sent after RSVP is received.
RSVP is required for the Jackson and Haywood County Caregiver Connections 2 days prior to group meeting, indicating if attending in person or virtually to jmiller@rapc.org.
workshops
Parent Mentor Orientation Training

Children’s Developmental Services Agency, 87 Bonnie Lane, Sylva
The Parent Mentor Orientation Training is for caregivers who have experience navigating systems and understand the unique experience of raising a child with a disability, mental health challenge, or special healthcare needs.
Caregivers who are raising other kin’s children, grandparents raising grandchildren, or foster families are also welcome to take this training.
This training offers:
Specifics in cultural competencies
Navigating grief
Arriving at hope
Meeting caregivers where they are, and a chance to share stories
Registration
RSVP is required one day prior to the date of the training.
Training will be cancelled if no RSVPs are received.
RSVP to Jody at jmiller@rapc.org with names of those attending.
