We are grateful that Governor Stein, once again, declared September 2026 Smart Start Month. In honor of Smart Start month, Region A Partnership for Children (RAPC) will honor Champions for Children with a deep commitment to service for children and youth.

September marks North Carolina's third annual Smart Start Month, recognized by proclamation from Governor Josh Stein. It is a chance to celebrate the families, educators, and community partners who support our youngest children, and a reminder that investing in the first five years builds stronger schools, stronger communities, and a stronger North Carolina for generations to come.

September is packed with opportunities for families across our region! Smart Start Teams meetings are scheduled in all Region A counties throughout the month. Caregiver Connections support groups meet in Macon, Cherokee/Clay, and Qualla Boundary - and are open to all families, not just those raising a child with autism.
