Enrollment is Open Again!

A Generous Investment in Early Literacy
We are thrilled to share some wonderful news with our community today!
After a temporary pause in enrollment due to a lack of funding, we are officially reopening Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to families in our region.
This exciting reopening is made possible by an incredible new investment in early childhood literacy. Recently, The Leon Levine Foundation committed $10 million across two new grants to advance early literacy in economically distressed North Carolina communities.
Through this funding, the Smart Start Network, Book Harvest, and Reach Out and Read North Carolina are coming together to ensure children have the books they need from day one. We are incredibly grateful for their support, which allows us to resume our work building home libraries for our youngest learners.

About Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library
Dolly Parton's Imagination Library (DPIL) is a book gifting program for children from birth to age five.
Region A Partnership for Children, a partner in the Smart Start Network, and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL) are working together with community partners to get books into the homes of our youngest children in the far western counties of North Carolina.
The mission of the program is to foster a love of reading in preschool children and ensure that every child born has specially selected books, regardless of their family’s income, delivered straight to their home.
Children enrolled receive a book every month at no cost to the family until their fifth birthday. Children in Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Jackson, Macon and Swain Counties are eligible to enroll and receive a free book each month through the Region A Partnership for Children Smart Start program.
Families can find out about availability of the program in their zip code and enroll their children here.
